Silverrudder 2017

As previously informed, nine Dragonflys took part in the Silverrudder regatta around the beautiful Danish island Funen. We have put together a short video from the race. We hope that you will enjoy it!

New Boat Builder

Today, one of our apprentices finished his apprenticeship with the highest grade. It goes without saying, that both boss and the new boat builder are extremely proud.

Full speed

Production is running full speed in the Dragonfly workshop. Four boats in a row are keeping our staff on their toes - getting the boats ready for their owners.

New employees

The Dragonfly family keeps growing. As per 1st November 2015 we have employed Bo Rix as Warehouse Manager and Camilla L. Rasmussen as part time Sales & Marketing Coordinator. Some of you are familiar with Camilla already, as she has been working at Quorning Boats previously as our secretary. We welcome Bo and Camilla back onboard.

Round Funen Race 2015

This year sets a new record, as 18 Dragonflys and  multihulls in total 31competed in the race. It was a very tough race with 70% of the 135 NM Race upwind in wind conditions up to 35 knots true wind. The weather was extremely cold and rainy throughout the race. Unfortunately, the rather extreme weather conditions meant that rougly 100 out of the 300 boats withdrew from the regatta.

25 years of Swing Wing

These days Børge and Jens Quorning cannot avoid looking back at the time 25 years ago. August 1989 was epoch-making to the future of the Dragonfly concept, as Quorning Boats could introduce the Swing Wing system to the sailing world. For many years Børge and Jens knew that they have to come up with a simple and smooth folding system that could reduce the beam in no time. In 1989 with the launch of the prototype, a Dragonfly 800 Swing Wing, they had managed to find a solution to this. The result was the Swing Wing system that works very simple, but is technical very complex.

We are ready for Spring

We have almost created a fleet here in the local marina as you can see on the picture and to be honest we think it looks quite nice. All of our demonstrator boats are now launched and ready to take out new (or to-be) Dragonfly enthusiasts for a test sail. This year we have three demonstrator boats: the Dragonfly 25 Sport, Dragonfly 28 Sport and Dragonfly 32 Supreme and then of course Tri Me I and Tri Me II. The weather is slowly starting to become warmer in Denmark as well, allowing for more comfortable sailing within a few weeks.

Count the number of hulls

We can feel the sailing season is starting, and not because we get to sail that much ourselves, but because we launch roughly one boat each day these weeks, meaning that we are very busy. Here during the spring we are launching 35 boats; some of them are brand new, and some of them have been at the yard for winter storage. The boats we are launching are primarily for Denmark, Germany, Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden. It is not very often that we get to line the boat up very neetly, but this accidently happened the other day as you can see on the picture below.
